Thermal protection: why it's a must before a hairdryer and straightener
Hot air and straighteners can dry out and damage your hair in weeks. Heat protectant is the easiest way to protect it – here's how to use it properly.

Every time you use a blow dryer, straightener, or curling iron, your hair loses moisture. Over time, this leads to dry, split ends, and a loss of shine. The product that makes the biggest difference is thermal protection.
How it works
Heat protectants form a light film on the hair that distributes heat more evenly and reduces moisture loss. Many also add shine and make it easier to comb.
How to apply it
- Dry your hair with a towel without rubbing it.
- Distribute the heat protection along the lengths and ends - that's where the hair is most vulnerable.
- Comb with a wide-toothed comb to distribute the product evenly.
- Dry on medium heat and hold the hairdryer 15–20 cm from the hair.
Spray, cream or oil?
- Spray – lightweight, suitable for thin hair and for volume.
- Cream – for thick, curly or unruly hair.
- Oil/serum – for shine and sealing the ends after drying.
